Members - Our most precious resource

Membership Development is about recruiting new members, retaining existing members, encouraging new clubs and supporting our existing members and clubs with ideas and resources to help them. In these pages you will find material to help you.

Perhaps the most important feature of this site is the Bulletin Board. In the Membership Management Forum there is the opportunity for people involved in recruitment and retention to exchange information on best practice and any initiatives undertaken (historic information is also of value). We want to hear about what did and didn't work well; hopefully we can all help each other to achieve growth in membership over the next few years.

Recruitment is the first step in building membership. There are any number of ideas and you will find some of them here.
Retention is, arguably, the most important feature of any good membership program. What's the point of recruiting new members if you can't keep the ones you've got? Club organistion, the songs you sing, rehearsal programming, socal activities: all play a part. You'll find lots of ideas here.

BABS has published a document called Getting It Right - Managing The Club. It contains a huge amount of useful information including job descriptions, the BABS registration process, a model constitution and a club 'operating manual' with lots of useful day to day tips for management and music teams.
