Invitational Choruses
An Invitational Chorus is one where external people have been invited to join the chorus for a special, one-off event or concert.
Usually you advertise for singers and you provide them with all music and teach tapes for the songs they need to learn. You will
organise some rehearsals, not usually on the same evening as the chorus rehearsal. You perform the event with your expanded chorus
and then you thank your 'visitors' and say goodbye. Naturally, you hope that some of them will be intrigued enough to want to stay.
The idea has one major advantage over other recruitment ideas in that you advertise for singers and, usually, that's what you get.
It is also self-contained, doesn't interrupt your normal chorus proceedings and has an end product. The only thing you have to teach
is the notes but, if you've got good teach tapes or CDs, you don't have to worry about that much either.
