Chorus Directors are key to the development of barbershop singing in this country and in recognition of this, Harmony Foundation granted 6 scholarships to the BABS Directors College held in Coventry earlier this year.
- The 4 scholarships from the 'Steve Hall Fund', were granted to Andy Foster (The Telfordaires), Peter Mumford (Solent City), Jon Walker (Leeds and Bradford) and Victor Wong (West Midlands)
- The 2 scholarships from the 'Keep Harmony Alive Fund', were granted to Hazel Jiggins, newly appointed director of the Leeds and Bradford Club, and Suzanne Johnson a musical director of a youth choir from outside barbershop.
As part of our commitment to the sharing of information and experiences, these delegates will be writing a critique of the college, which will appear on www.babs-directorscollege.info and extracts will be printed in the next issue of Harmony Express.
BABS Directors College, is one of the foremost residential chorus directors educational events in the UK. It attracts delegates not only from BABS, but also LABBS, Sweet Adelines, IABS and more importantly from outside of the barbershop world. With 63 delegates in attendance at Directors College V, reinforces the quality of the training provided and in particular BABS position as one of the leading musical educational charities.
