Welcome

The British Association of Barbershop Singers, BABS, is a charitable organisation with music education as its goal. Registered Charity Number: 1080930

There are about 1800 members of BABS in 50 clubs across the UK. Probably our most important members are our Chorus Directors who, every week, teach, motivate, cajole and inspire their choruses.

This site is for Chorus Directors and Assistant Chorus Directors to share information on style, practice, new ideas and general advice. All the news about Directors' College and other relevant events will be found here. Improving communications between CDs of all abilities is expected to improve the quality of their directing and thereby helping to improve their chorus.

A mailing list, CDnet, was set up nearly 5 years ago to enable Chorus Directors to communicate with each other on issues concerning Directing.

Two years ago we set up the BABS education website which brought us the opportunity of using Bulletin Boards. Several have been set up including one for the use of Chorus Directors. This is a forum for Chorus Directors and other qualifying people to discuss issues around the role and tasks of directing and musical leadership. The forum is restricted to those who are registered and are members of the Chorus Directors User Group.

From 10th February 2007 the CDnet will be closed permanently.

Anyone wishing to use the Bulletin Board should go to the BABS Bulletin Board and register themselves for access to Chorus Directors.
